The implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) has become an important topic in German Education. It aims to “empower people to change the way they think and work towards a sustainable future” (UNESCO on ESD) and is set to be implemented globally via the Global Action Plan.

On the second of May Franziska Keich, project manager of StartGreen@School, was invited to talk about the ESD projects carried out by UnternehmensGrün e.V. at the international alumni project seminar “Education for Sustainable Development – Sharing and Linking International Best-Practice Approaches” which took place at the University of Greifswald in Eastern Germany. The presentation – which was attended by 35 ESD practitioners from developing countries all over the world – was followed by a lively discussion the different approaches and how to implement projects such as StartGreen@School in the respective countries.
